Training Objectives

Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Preschool Education Major implements the educational principles and policies of the party and the state and inherits the school motto "Chengyi" and the Tan Kah Kee Spirit. This major is based in Fujian Province, radiates across the country, and is oriented to the cultivation of high-quality innovative professionals with strong faith, noble teachers’ ethics, and love for preschool education. Students majoring in preschool education can engage in education, management, and research work in kindergarten and other preschool education-related institutions with excellent scientific and humanistic qualities.professional knowledge system, comprehensive teaching ability, a good command of practice and reflection, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and international vision.

Expected development goals of graduates after five years

1.Professional virtues and beliefs. Graduates should practice the socialist core valueswith “Chengyi” character and hold the spirit of Kah Kee. They will take “cultivating people through moral education” as the responsibility and “being teachers with moral excellence in the new era” as the standard withlove for preschool education and respect for preschool children's personality. They must be caring, responsible and patient.

2.Professional knowledge and ability. Graduates should have good humanistic, scientific and artistic qualities, systematically master the professional knowledge and basic skills of preschool education, understand the development characteristics of preschool children, scientifically create an environment for pre-school children, plan and implement the scheme of care and education, establish a benign interactive relationship between teachers and children and fully utilize kindergarten’s resources from family and society to comprehensively promote the development of preschool children .

3.Professional development and innovation. Graduates shouldhave the consciousness of lifelong learning and professional development, and the ability of independent learning and reflection. They can pay attention to the development of preschool education at home and abroad andbe positive and innovative with the courage to practice and good skills of cooperation when pursuing excellence.

Graduation Requirements

Based on the professional standards of preschool education, this major implements the goals of practicing teachers' ethics, learning to teach, learning to educate and learning to develop to formulate the following graduation requirements:

1.Teachers’ moral standards.Actively practice the socialist core values, and enhance the ideological, political, theoretical and emotional identity of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Carry out the party’s educational policy and take moral cultivation as duty. Abide by the professional ethics of preschool education teachers, have the awareness of teaching according to law, and aspire to become a good teacher with ideals and beliefs, moral sentiment, solid knowledge and benevolence.

2. Educational feelings. Love the career of preschool education, have the professional consciousness to engage in it when agreeing with the significance and professionalism of preschool teachers’ work. Have a generous humanistic foundation and scientific spirit. Establish correct values on children and education. Respect children’s personality. Becaring, responsible and enterprising. 3. Care and education knowldege. Have good humanistic, scientific and artistic quality and information quality; Understand the laws of children’s physical, mental development and learning characteristics, systematically master the basic theories and knowledge of preschool education, and understand the ideas and methods of modern preschool education; Master the basic strategies of kindergarten education, be able to integrate professional knowledge and apply it preliminarily.

4. Care and education ability. Be able to useGuidelines for Kindergarden Education(for trial and implementation)andGuidelines for Learning and Development for Children aged 3 to 6to respect children’s subjectivity, make full use of resources, create an effective learning environment, integrate the contents of various fields, scientifically plan their daily life, and reasonably organize and implement games and activities according to children’s physical and mental development rules and learning characteristics. Have the ability to observe, record and analyze children’s learning and developmen and the ability to evaluate kindergarten activities.

5. Class management. Master the characteristics of kindergarten classes, establish class order and rules, rationally plan about time and space, create a good class environment, take advantage of various educational resources, establish a benign peer relationship and teacher child relationship, and create a harmonious class atmosphere. Be a model for other teachers and play an exemplary role.

6. Comprehensive education. Grasp and respect the characteristics and laws of children’s social and emotional development,cultivate children’s good will and behavior to help them gain positive experience. Understand the value of educating people in the environment, the value of kindergarten culture and daily life to the development of children. Infiltrate social and emotional content flexibly infiltrated into daily life, and infect children through environmental influence.
